      Hi There

I have a B34 year 2001 engine volvo penta MD2030. I have had to replace the Alternator & I’m presently out of the country but I remember when I removed the alternator I never marked the cable’s. I remember there being 4 cables to dicconnect what I’m wandering if someone can take a photo of the back of there alternator with the cables and email to me so I know where they go I’ve a vague Idea…

I know Im a plonker for not marking the cable’s or so my wife tells me…..

        Hi Mike

The 4 cables are positive, negative, ‘ignition’ light and rev counter. They are (normally) colour coded as follows –

        Positive (B+) – Red
        Negative (D) – Black
        Ignition light (61) – Brown
        Rev Counter (W) – Grey

The connectors may give a clue (assuming the new alternator is a direct replacement) as some are rings and one (or maybe 2) are spades.

        Good luck

        Roger
