The rope on the traveller of my 2005 Bavaria 42 has worn out. I have been trying to find a replacement with no success. It is 10 mm diameter and looks like braid on braid but is extremely flexible. I have shown it to various experts at the boat shows but nobody has been able to offer a decent replacement. Any ideas? Thanks, Andrew.

I’ve recently replaced mine with Liros 6mm 3 strand prestretched. Works a treat with much less friction.

          Rick,

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll give it a try.

I know someone who did the same thing with his reefing lines. I think these are 10mm as well, and he replaced his with something like 6mm. He said the improvement when shaking out the reef was enormous, due to the lower friction.

I have to pull my reefing lines out at the end of the boom or at the mast end of the boom when shaking out a reef.
