Hi
Can anyone recommend an Electric Windlass for a 2008 Bavaria 31?

April 4, 2013 at 6:19 pm #9395AnonymousOn CaSam I have the factory fitted option.
It is a Quick Genius 800W.
Cost from the factory was not cheap but I’ve just seen that you can get them from Marine Superstore and they are on offer for £599http://www.marinesuperstore.com/item/404328/quick-genius-windlass-8mm-800w
(No link or association with the product…. just a satisfied end user!)

(Shame I did not catch your post earlier… I’ve only just got back!)April 8, 2013 at 5:27 am #9398AnonymousNo problem….was probably more for where the wiring goes etc
Confirming previous posts on the site, as I don’t have a factory fit windlass the shelf has been cut. So will have to look at extending it some how!!Gerry

Not very clear but these are the pics of the wiring from underneath the windlass shelf taken from the forward v berth after removing the access panel.
As you can see the wiring is then fed through the port side.[attachment=1:h4degyuq]photo (6).jpg[/attachment:h4degyuq]

April 25, 2013 at 3:59 pm #9422AnonymousHi Steve,
I was intrigued by the anchor up/down switch you have at the helm. I assume that was an add on by you? I currently use the wired remote from the bow that I see you also have a set up for, but I love the idea of being able to do all this from the helm when I’m solo.
Any advice or words of wisdom on the upgrade? How did you figure our what wires to tap and where, and what gauge did you use? And where did you get that switch?
Any perspective you can offer would be great.

Unfortunately I can take no credit for the installation of the helm control for the windlass.
Yes it was my “whim” so I did have it installed, although I did not wire it.As for short handed use it is an absolute gem. (just have to be careful when deploying or retrieving the last 3 meters that the anchor does not catch on the bow…. bit tricky with the new almost vertical design!
In terms of the techy bits, I guess that the swith is wired in parallel to the hand remote (which of course still works when plugged in at the anchor locker). If I’m wrong I’m sure that some will help with guidance?

As for the switch, not entirely sure where it was sourced from but a quick google search has brought something up from the Lewmar site, amoungst others….Steve

I’ll let you know if I take the plunge (metaphorically) on this. Sounds like a great add-on. Could be on my project list for next winter!
