I have just bought a Bavaria 36 cruiser and it doesn’t have any deck gear for a Spinnaker (in fact it doesn’t have much deck gear at all !). I am putting a Assymetric / cruising chute on with a Bowsprit for easy Gybing. My specific question is on the sheets. Has anyone used the mooring cleats at the rear (and possibly the middle for a barber hauler) to rig swivel blocks with strops that can be put on and removed as required. I thought this would avoid drilling holes in the deck – are the cleats strong enough ?
      Thanks for any advice.

We attached a turning block with strop to the aft mooring cleats on our Bav 36 and it work well. The forces from a cruising chute aren’t very high compared to mooring warp.

Again sorry for the late reply but thought it worthwhile in case anyone else is considering. I used strops attached to blocks on the cleats and that works really well (on the few occassions my family allow me to put it up….) Jim
