When I bought my Bavaria Holiday 35 in 2003 she did have a good turn of speed under engine and 7 knots was the norm. Unfortunately I lost the propellor in Bayona after crossing Biscay, thankfully I did not loose it in the middle of Biscay even though we did motor for 12 hours due to a lack of wind. I had a new propellor sent out to us, but as I did not know what size the original was I could only fit the size that Volvo recommended, and this turned out to be a 3 blade propellor, whereas the original was a 2 blade. But this was no where near the original speed so eventually we reverted to the 2 blade variety, and I believe the size we have now is 14×11, but max speed is only 6 knots with a clean hull. So can anybody advise what size propellor will give me 7 knots at 2500 revs?

I would have thought that it would be the 15X11.

I was actually thinking it might need to be 17×11, so would that be too big

Almost definitely….15 and maybe at a push 16?
