The QL Hot water cylinder on my 2005 B39 recently developed a leak which on investigation was a failed weld around the spigot for the engine cooling circuit. I was advised by Gosport Boat Yard when they tried to source a replacement that Volvo had announced at the 2010 Southampton Boat Show that the entire QL line is discontinued.

Although I can find no information to confirm this, even Clipper were unaware, I have found that the Quick Nautic B3 20 litre model is a virtual, like for like replacement if anyone else faces a similar problem. It is also a very similar price.

        Fred,

Our water heater element failed in July just before going away cruising. I chased around trying to find a replacement and the only solution I could quickly find was a complete QL heater. Our local Volvo dealer told me that the element on its own seemed to be no longer available however if I paid for it in full they would order one and wait and see if it turned up!

I decided to fit a Quick Nautic 25L as I couldn’t see the point in fitting a new QL that you couldn’t get bits for, The Quick fitted in the same space and was fairly straight forward to install even though it was 5l bigger than the original and as you said, the cost is much the same at around £299 for the 25L model.
