My Raytheon/Raymarine plotter was a bit slow to find our position when switched on there were two possible causes.
1 , there were too many waypoints ( 251 ) on the system which proved to be the case .
2 , there is a lithium battery in the aerial which keeps last position when unit is switched off, which is tricky to replace.explanations on google.

WishI should have mentioned that the plotter on our 2001 Bav 34 is a Raymarine 70CRC that had never been purged of routes and waypoints over the years.
I learnt about the battery in the aerial ( which is not mentioned by Raymarine ) from a friend who had changed his.
