My Raytheon/Raymarine plotter was a bit slow to find our position when switched on there were two possible causes.

1 , there were too many waypoints ( 251 ) on the system which proved to be the case .

2 , there is a lithium battery in the aerial which keeps last position when unit is switched off, which is tricky to replace.explanations on google.

I should have mentioned that the plotter on our 2001 Bav 34 is a Raymarine 70CRC that had never been purged of routes and waypoints over the years.
I learnt about the battery in the aerial ( which is not mentioned by Raymarine ) from a friend who had changed his.
