I am about to replace the standard Rutgerson clutches with the new Lewmar clutches. Question is how big is the plate the current ones are tapped into as the new ones have a bigger foot print and I am replacing 3 each side with 4?

Has anyone done this or similar? Boat is 2006 37c and I asked Clipper but they were not sure.

I am hoping the plate is considerably larger to a) accommodate a 4th clutch for owners who might have wanted them originally, b) because access from inside is difficult for through bolting and c) it would make sense!

      Thanks

Job now complete and the answer is that the aluminium plate is not very big. I have fitted two doubles each side and some fasteners are tapped into aluminium and the others had to be through bolted. A small access hole had to be cut under the headlining so the washers and nuts could be fitted.

The result is excellent, it has been worth it to have the new Lewmar clutches.
