We have now finally solved the problem.

After quite a bit of research we came across the Vetus Splash Stop. This is a small tank (2l) which attaches to both the fuel inlet and the fuel tank breather pipe.

On filling, any foam is diverted into the tank, along with any fuel that comes up the breather line.

As an additional benefit, we can fuel up to a full tank which we have not been able to do up to now.

I would definitely recommend this product. (Just to be clear, we have no links with Vetus or any Vetus supplier).
