When we bought our boat the chain was marked with spray paint and it was not really clear. I bought some of those coloured rubber inserts and made up my own “code” for the markings. I think it is a good idea to have a clear table on the inside of the anchor locker lid so that the ‘anchor person’ can easily see how much chain is out (or in). You will note that there are no green markers – my local chandlers said it is bad luck to sell green things – local superstition apparently.
