I,m fixing D Bolts in the cockpit area for clipping on lifelines and need to fix one at the entrance to the companionway. I have seen on other boats, a D bolt on the left hand side, looking astern, in the curve of the mould. This would take the bolts through and in to the heads. Has anyone got any ideas on the position and size of bolt required?

Andy here from Clipper.

Use an 8mm D-bolt put it where you are planning, you need to drill out from other side, place nylocks on the endand then put caps over the access holes you’ve drilled. I’ll try and get a photo of one we’ve done and post it for you.
