I believe there has been some problems with continuity between the engine and sail drive on circa 2006/7 Volvo D1 -30 saildrives causing electrolitic erosion of the leg. Apparently the engine must be isolated from the gearbox/leg.

I know that a certain amount is permitted but how much? Being an electrical idiot, can anybody tell me if this is ok……….
Set my multimeter to resistance and with it set on 300k the reading was 59.9 between the engine and gearbox. Or perhaps I should do it between the engine and bottom of the leg??

I think you will find it is isolated by a plastic plate between the engine and box. Don’t know what the problem on that engine might be, but in general the plate works.
