Picked Thursday 24th to move, for the first time, our B30 (‘Echo’) from its winter berth at Kip to its new summer home at Portavadie Marina (Loch Fyne). Thick fog around Kip Marina gave us something to think about, but before any shouts of “irresponsible!” ,a quick drive along the coast road showed the fog clearing in less than a quarter of a mile from the marina exit. So, we slowly worked our way out, emerging into lovely sunshine and had a beautiful motorsail (little wind) through the Kyles of Bute, passing the Hebridean Princess en-route, arriving at Portavadie in glorious sunshine to be met by the Marina Manager (Robert Kitchin) who took our lines and gave us the VERY welcoming facility tour, before we were mysteriously drawn to enjoying an al fresco pint in what could only be described as a continental atmosphere. What a fabulous marina. You MUST visit if you haven’t already done so. 2000 rpm and the mainsail gave us our memorably 5 and a bit hour first trip. Roll on our next visit.
