I have a Bavaria 33C – Despite precautions the diesel tank has got fuel bug and dirt, including swarf from fitting an eberspacher heater fuel pick up by first owner. I have found a company to make me an inspection hatch, but I need to replace the fuel pick-up and return pipes. These are fitted to the tank with rubber bungs and have always had a small leak. I can’t find them (help anyone?) and anyway, want to replace them with a mechanically fastened fitting (ie screw thread, preferably with lock nut underneath). I am having great difficulty in locating such an item – any ideas please?

In my view this is an extremely poor piece of engineering by Bavaria. Any diesel tank should have a small accessible sump with a bleed tap. My 33C has a tank that I can’t remove without cutting out the locker floor, that can’t be accessed, that has poor leaking fittings and no drain sump. And the boat has a CE mark!! Nuff said!
