      Has anyone used a petrol generator whilst at anchor to run the onboard mains charger? My charger is 240 v 40 a/h. If it is feasable what output would I need from the generator? I am not too knowledgeable regarding electrics so are there any obvious snags I need to know about. I know I could simply run the boat engine but I have often read that they should not be idled for lengthy periods.

            Hi Fishlake,

            Thanks for your response. Can you tell me how you use the generator. Do you connect it to the boat shore power socket or do you just plug the mains charger into is as you require it?
