Thank you John, very useful. Whilst the Integra (direct gear drive) is a better engineering option (and fewer moving parts to go wrong), I am struggling to find anyone prepared to fit one in the Chichester area. This will probably take us back to the linear drive option therefore.

Thankyou Ian, very helpful. We have also now been referred to the Evolution Integra which is a direct chain drive fitting specifically for Bavaria’s fitted within the binnacle. (The cog is already provided). The cost is about the same but it saves bulkhead works.

        Regards

Having recently joined the BOA, I now realize that I was a bit hasty to sign up & spend my money! There doesn’t seem to be any improvement in the forum use since these comments, the main reason I joined, and the last yearbook was 2 years ago and the last emag 3 years ago!. Feels like it’s run its course and run out of wind which is a shame.

Hi, just had my sails, covers and sail stack cleaned & repaired by Batt Sails at Bosham and absolutely delighted. Great job & reasonable price. http://www.battsails.com
