Another bit of info that might be useful to you:-

The MD-22 is a Perkins Prima engine, marinised by Volvo. So except for the marinising bits (heat exchanger, etc.), it’s the same engine as was used in the BL Maestro, Montego, and Sherpa van. It was also the Perkins P50 marine engine.

Get yourself a Perkins Prima Haynes workshop manual off ebay, and if you need any parts, go to a motor factors (or ebay) and buy Perkins Prima bits.

I got a spare engine out of a Montego for £100 and stripped it down, so have a ready source of spares in the garage.

    What engine do you have?

If it’s an MD22/TMD22/TAMD22 then these engines have their own negative circuit, and only earth when the starter is engaged, so you’ll find that there’s not much wear on the anodes.

I replaced my prop anodes after 4 years and they were only about half gone.

Check all of your fuel pipe joints up to the engine and back again (run your finger round each one to see if your finger stays dry). I bet you have a slight weep on one of them. Also wipe your hand over the bottom of the filters, they should also be bone dry.

Sounds like you have an earth leak somewhere downstream of the circuit breaker.

Sounds like a good solution and one I have been thinking about, colour match was always going to be the problem.

How many coats did you apply and cans did you need in total?

    Thanks

    Simon

Just one coat each side, straight on top of the GRP. 1 tin for each side was plenty.

The stripes on my coachroof were past polishing (too many years in the sun). After trying every way I could to get the colour back, I decided there was no option but a re-spray.

So after a few goes with different colours, I eventually found the perfect colour match.

So, the dark blue that they used from about 2003 onwards, is Ford Balliol Blue. You can get it from Halfords. I didn’t use a primer, simply masked-up and sprayed it directly onto the striped.

    Looks like new again now.

This is the paint you need http://www.halfords.com/motoring/paints-body-repairs/car-spray-paints/halfords-ford-balliol-blue-car-spray-paint-300ml

Mine is all in German I’m afraid.

It’s almost certain to be chorosion of a connector somewhere. I’ve have endless trouble with this.

    Best of luck

Just found another yesterday whilst giving it a good wash. The babystay U-bolt had no sealant under it at all (what the hell…)

Don’t know anything about them myself, but I know that there’s been a healthy debate about them on the YBW forum (some problems with shanks bending I think). I’d recommend a read before you buy.

I have a delta, and find it really good in pretty-much everything, and it’s held fine in over 50kts in sand (English Harbour when hurricane Tomas came through).

Tentatively put the last week of June and the first week of July in the diary for a Channel Islands and North France cruise.

I’ll probably hop over to Cherbourg for a day or two, then across to SPP and then on from there.

Anyone who wants to join us at any point is very welcome.

Great to see you all at the Folly on Saturday. Hopefully I’ll be able to partake in the whole rally next time.

in reply to: Bow thruster for Bavaria 32 #9606

I would suggest that you have a season with the boat first, as I suspect that you just need to get used to it.

You really shouldn’t need a thruster on a boat that size.

Ok, just looked, and mine has 3 bolts (with Allen Key heads) each side.

    Hope that help

I’ve got a 49 with the same engine and drive, so if you give me a clue what I’m looking for, I’ll take a look when I’m on the boat later today and upload a photo for you.
